News  Probation Commissioner Elected to National Board, MPS Employees are Voted Region and State Representatives

Massachusetts Probation Commissioner Pamerson Ifill has been elected to serve as a Member-At-Large Representative on the Board of Directors for the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA).

Massachusetts Probation Commissioner Pamerson Ifill has been elected to serve as a Member-At-Large Representative on the Board of Directors for the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA). Hingham District Court Chief Probation Officer Jennifer Brady was elected Region One representative and retired Falmouth District Court Probation Officer John “Jack” McGrimley was voted the representative for Massachusetts.

The APPA is described as the "voice of the community corrections industry" on its website which defines its purpose as reducing recidivism to keep our communities safe." Veronica Cunningham is APPA's Executive Director and CEO. 

"I am excited about this opportunity to serve as a member at-large for an organization whose mission is to reduce recidivism. I look forward to serving on the board with dynamic community corrections professionals from across the country,” said Commissioner Ifill.

Commissioner Ifill is among the 16 national board members for the APPA for 2023-2025. As a Board member, he and other directors are tasked with the following:

  • Guiding the overall direction of APPA
  • Ratifying actions of the executive committee
  • Guarding the vision and the future of APPA
  • Providing leadership to the field
  • Presenting and discussing issues germane to the field
  • Setting the course for future APPA initiatives .

Hingham District CPO Brady will serve as Region 1 representative. Region 1 includes: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington D.C., U.S Caribbean Territories, Canada, and other countries.

"I am looking forward to serving as the region 1 representative as we work to move the dial forward in community corrections as well as make a profound impact on the communities we serve. I believe that together we can define fairness, equity and inclusion in making our communities safer. I am proud to be a representative of the Massachusetts Probation Service as I take on this role with APPA," said Chief Brady.
