In the Press:
- Storm Preparation – State officials cautioned boaters and swimmers to stay aware of surf conditions as the projected path of Hurricane Bill is predicted to pass several hundred miles east of Massachusetts. Even at that distance, Hurricane Bill is expected to have an impact on coastal regions. Swimmers and boaters must take precautions given the potential high seas and strong currents expected to be associated with this event over the remainder of the week. - Assisting Our Veterans – The Patrick-Murray administration announced yesterday that the Massachusetts Department of Veteran’s Services was awarded a $500,000 grant from the United States Department of Labor to assist veterans in training and employment in green industry professions. This comes on the heals of Lieutenant Governor Timothy P. Murray’s Veterans tour earlier this summer showing Massachusetts deep commitment to veteran affairs. “This funding will allow us to train some of our most deserving men and women for the jobs of the future,” said Lieutenant Governor Murray, who chairs the Governor’s Advisory Council on Veterans’ Services. “After the great service they’ve given to us, we must make every effort to ensure a smooth transition back into civilian work and life and this is one way to do that.” Learn more here.
