Welcome to the Division of Banks' (the "Division") employment page!
The Division is charged with maintaining a safe and sound, competitive banking and financial services environment throughout the Commonwealth and ensuring compliance with community reinvestment and consumer protection laws by chartering, licensing, and supervising state regulated financial institutions in a professional and innovative manner.
The majority of the Division's employees are Bank Examiners who conduct a variety of on-site examinations at financial institutions which fall under the Division's jurisdiction.
Positions as Bank Examiners are generally available throughout the Commonwealth within the Division's Financial Institution Supervision and Compliance and Community Affairs Sections. The Division's Financial Institution Supervision Section is charged with conducting financial safety and soundness examinations of the Commonwealth's state-chartered banks and credit unions. The Division's Compliance and Community Affairs Section conducts consumer compliance and CRA compliance examinations of the Commonwealth's state-chartered banks and credit unions, as well as consumer compliance and financial safety and soundness examinations of the Commonwealth's non bank licensees.
The primary duties of the Bank Examiner II position include: Compilation and organization of data to determine compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, administrative bulletins and directives; assistance in the preparation of various statistical reports; analysis of financial and other relevant data needed to prepare written core comments; and preparation and completion of examination or inspection report pages by the proving of accounts and gathering of relevant data. Bank Examiner IIs are provided with a lap top computer and will participate in on-the-job training and formal classroom training provided by Division and federal bank regulatory agencies.
Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree with a preferred major in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Law, Management or a related field and possess strong written and oral communication skills, analytical reasoning strengths, and computer skills. All qualified applicants must have a valid driver's license and access to an automobile as travel throughout Massachusetts and possible overnight and out-of-state travel is required.
The starting salary for the Bank Examiner II position is $39,686.92. Annual step raises are provided, pending satisfactory work performance. In addition, promotional opportunities are offered on a regular basis. The position offers a competitive benefits package and travel reimbursement is provided. The Division also offers a progressive training program.
