2025 fishing & hunting seasons
October 1: Family Fishing Clinic, Shrewsbury – Join us for a free, family friendly, learn to fish clinic at Jordan Pond (get directions), from 5–6:30 p.m. Bring your fishing equipment or borrow ours; limited equipment and bait will be provided. Open to the public, pre-registration is required; click here to register. This event is being held in cooperation with the MassWildlife's Angler Education Program and the Shrewsbury Recreation Department.

October 2: Fall Turkey Hunting, Virtual – Join members of the NWTF and staff from MassWildlife for a one hour virtual panel discussion focused on fall turkey hunting. Topics will include laws and regulations, fall turkey hunting tactics and strategies, and fall turkey calling. The class will be taught through Zoom from 6–7 p.m. Registration is required. October 7: Conservation Focused Deer Management in Massachusetts Presentation, Wareham – Rising white-tailed deer abundance in southeastern Massachusetts coupled with declining hunter participation has led to negative impacts on ecosystems, agricultural damage, vehicle collisions, and risks of tick-borne illness. Dr. Martin Feehan, MassWildlife Deer and Moose Biologist, will discuss the challenges we face with deer management, strategies for addressing these challenges, and how property owners and organizations can be a part of the solution. This free presentation will start at 6 p.m. at Wareham Free Library.
October 8: Waterfowl Hunting 101, Virtual – Join MassWildlife staff and partners to learn all about waterfowl hunting. Topics include basic waterfowl biology and identification, laws and regulations, gear and equipment, and hunting strategies/techniques for beginner waterfowl hunters. The class will be taught through Zoom from 6–8 p.m. Registration is required. Click here to register.
October 12: Learn to Fish and Fly Fish Clinics, Wrentham – Join MassWildlife at the National Wild Turkey Federation Youth Outdoor Field Day at the Wrentham Sportsmen’s Association (get directions) from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Open to the public, pre-registration required. October 22: Fisheries and Wildlife Board Meeting, Westborough and Online – The October monthly business meeting of the Fisheries and Wildlife Board will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the MassWildlife Field Headquarters, 1 Rabbit Hill Road, Westborough. October 22: Coexisting with Black Bears Presentation, Sturbridge – Join this in-person presentation with MassWildlife's Community Engagement Biologist, Meghan Crawford, to learn about black bear biology and how communities can take effective steps to coexist with bears. November 6: Coexisting with Black Bears Presentation, Acton/Littleton/Westford – Join this engaging presentation to learn about black bear biology and behavior and get tips on how communities can take proactive steps to prevent conflict with bears. The program will be presented by Meghan Crawford, Community Engagement Biologist at MassWildlife. The free event will begin at 7 p.m. at Acton Town Hall, Room 204 (472 Main Street Acton, MA 01720) and is hosted by Acton Conservation, Littleton Conservation, Westford Conservation, and the Littleton Conservation Trust. November 19: Living with Wild Turkeys Presentation, Dalton – Celebrate Thanksgiving early and join an in-person presentation about the interesting history, biology, and behavior of wild turkeys in Massachusetts. The program will be presented by Meghan Crawford, Community Engagement Biologist at MassWildlife. The free event will begin at 6 p.m. at the Dalton Free Public Library.
