Massachusetts Cancer Registry

The Massachusetts Cancer Registry (MACR) works to improve and save lives through collection and reporting of cancer data.

The Massachusetts Cancer Registry (MACR) is part of the state’s health department. It receives information from hospital partners about every new case of cancer diagnosed in people who live in Massachusetts. This includes details like the type of cancer, how far it has spread, and basic information about the patient. MACR data are used to look for patterns, find out if certain groups are getting cancer more often, and help plan programs designed to prevent and treat cancer. The information also helps researchers and leaders make good decisions about health care.
