The Office of Technical Assistance and Technology (OTA) was established in 1990 as part of the Massachusetts Toxics Use Reduction Act (TURA). OTA is a non-regulatory office within the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs that helps manufacturers and other toxic chemical users reduce or eliminate their use of toxics and generation of hazardous byproducts. Since its inception, OTA has successfully assisted Massachusetts businesses reduce the use of millions of pounds of toxic chemicals while saving millions of dollars. OTA provides programs and services to help businesses cut costs, improve chemical use efficiency, and reduce environmental impact in Massachusetts.
The mission of OTA is to promote toxics use reduction, environmental performance, health and safety, economic competitiveness in the private sector, and effective service delivery in the public sector.
