Public comment

The statutory Restorative Justice Advisory Committee (RJAC) has identified the need for a state-level restorative justice office to serve as a knowledge-based resource that fosters healing and accountability for harm in the commonwealth by building RJ infrastructure and promoting effective RJ policy, education, research, practices, and programming within communities, schools, and public institutions in collaboration with government agencies, practitioners, and other stakeholders. To this end, the RJAC conducted research on other state-sponsored RJ systems and created a framework for a MA state RJ office. Before submitting this recommended framework to state leaders for adoption, the RJAC is seeking public comment for a period of 30 days on the draft program design and enabling statute for this state RJ office.

There are two methods for submitting public comment on these drafts. First, members of the public may submit anonymous written comments through this online survey. Second, members of the public are invited to attend this meeting September 12, 2023. Public comments will be accepted until September 15, 2023.
