Photo Contest Details
Each year we encourage the public and farmers to submit their best amateur photographs that spotlight the diversity of agriculture and horticulture grown in Massachusetts throughout the various seasons.
We seek photos that represent "MassGrown" crops: maple syrup, cranberries, livestock and poultry, flowers, pollinators, native plants, fruits, vegetables, Christmas trees, as well as innovative farming methods such as renewable energy systems and urban agriculture. Whether on a farm or in your garden, send us your best!
The annual photo contest winners will be featured in the 2027 Massachusetts Agriculture Calendar. Winners will be invited to The Big E and announced at the Massachusetts Building on "Massachusetts Day" September 24th. Winners will receive complimentary copies, goodie bag, and be featured on MDAR’s “MassGrown” website, as well as throughout the year on our social media channels.
Deadline July 6, 2026!
The annual contest and calendar is sponsored by Massachusetts Agriculture in the Classroom, Inc. (MAC), The Massachusetts State Grange, and the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR).
Rules and Guidelines:
- When submitting, please submit your highest resolution/quality version of the photo. Horizontal/landscape format is the best orientation, and 300 dpi as the final calendar size of 10 1/2" wide x 7 1/2" tall is the best resolution. Low-resolution photos cannot be used. There is a limit of 20MB per photo, with 100MB total per submission.
- Amateur photo contest rules require entries to be original work taken by the entrant who does not earn their primary income from photography. Submissions must not include watermarks or borders, and prohibit AI generation. Post-processing is typically restricted to minor color, contrast, and exposure adjustments.
- Photographers retain the copyright to their photographs. MDAR and MAC retains the rights to reproduce the winning photographs in online publications, promotions, as well as on printed materials.
