Doing Business in Massachusetts

Are you doing business in Massachusetts or just getting started? Our one-stop business portal has information, tools, and more - all intended to help you succeed in the Commonwealth.

Export Assistance

Learn how exporting can increase your sales and grow your business. The Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment and the Massachusetts Export Center can walk you through the exporting process.

Office of Business Development

The mission of the Massachusetts Office of Business Development (MOBD) is to strengthen the economy and increase job growth throughout Massachusetts by providing to businesses that are seeking to expand or locate in the Commonwealth a highly responsive, central point of contact that facilitates access to resources, expertise, and incentive programs available in the Commonwealth.

Permit Regulatory Office

The Massachusetts Permit Regulatory Office was established in 2006 to work with new and existing businesses by assisting with permitting, licensing, and regulatory processes.

Resources for Small Business

Hear from the Small Business Association on how to apply for business loans, learn how to contract with the governor or find a Small Business Development Center near you.  To determine which business assistance center you should contact to receive services, find the town or city where your business is located. If you are not currently in business, choose the town or city where you live.  To better serve the Massachusetts small business community, the MSBDC also has outreach sites in conjunction with chambers of commerce and economic development entities. For most small businesses this means that MSBDC services are no further than 30 minutes away. Appointments are made on a weekly or as needed basis, depending on site.  Contact the appropriate regional office or outreach site for further information. In addition there is an opportunity to submit your request on-line.

Small Business Purchasing Program

The Massachusetts Small Business Purchasing Program (SBPP) was established by Executive Order No. 523 in recognition of the importance of Massachusetts small businesses and the impact and challenges they face in today’s economy. The purpose of the program, as stated in the Executive Order, is “to support the existence and growth of small businesses which meet the Program’s eligibility requirements by providing them with special consideration within the Commonwealth’s procurement process for goods and services required by state agencies.”
