What you need   for Request a MassHealth Card

You must show your MassHealth card to your doctor or health care provider whenever you get medical care. If you have a MassHealth card and also have other health insurance, be sure to show all insurance cards at the time of service.

Not all members will get a MassHealth card. You will not get a MassHealth card if

  • If you are eligible only for payment of your health insurance premiums
  • If you are determined to be eligible for the Health Safety Net (HSN) due to low income.

If you are eligible for HSN services, hospitals and community health centers will check to determine if they can get reimbursement for services provided to you and your household.
