Insurance companies and insurance producers (agents and brokers) need to be licensed to sell insurance in Massachusetts. Insurance companies generally use one of three methods to sell their product to you.
- Direct - sell insurance through the mail or by telephone or internet.
- Exclusive producers-insurance companies sell coverage through producers that only represent their company.
- Independent producers-insurance companies sell coverage through producers who represent several companies.
The Division of Insurance requires all companies licensed to write PPA insurance to have an online quoting tool on their website or a phone number for residents to call to obtain a quote. Please keep in mind that some of these companies do not quote you directly but will use agents as described above.
The following insurer groups are licensed to write PPA insurance in MA. Please note, companies marked with an * are licensed in MA but may not be writing new policies or may have restrictions on who can purchase a policy.
