Carrie Kimball, Communications Officer

Inspector General Jeffrey S. Shapiro testified today in support of changes to the procurement laws proposed within the Municipal Empowerment Act. Specifically, he supports the streamlining of the procurement process for electric school buses and the related charging infrastructure, a change that he advocated beginning last fall. He also testified in support of raising the municipal procurement pricing thresholds to $100,000 to be consistent with the thresholds for school departments. He also cautioned against creating further exemptions to post-retirement employment laws.
