Division of Standards

The Division of Standards (DOS) enforces laws, rules, and regulations relating to weights and measures and the use of weighing and measuring devices in commercial transactions.

ATTENTION ICE CREAM TRUCK VENDORS
The Department of Public Safety has issued new regulations (520 CMR 15.00) for the permitting of such vehicles operators/vendors effective February 15, 2013. Therefore, the Division of Standards cannot issue Peddler Licenses to operators/vendors selling ice cream from  a motorized vehicle. Permits must be procured from the local police department or the local permitting agent.
