On April 9, 2018, MassDEP issued a Final Decision on WSI’s application for a Major Modification (Partial Valley Fill Project). The Final Decision allows WSI to place additional ash fill in two valleys within the limit of the landfill, subject to specific conditions. MassDEP also executed an eleventh Amendment to the Consent Order, which includes required mitigation.

Major Modification of the Ash Landfill
On November 1, 2017, MassDEP issued for Public Comment a Provisional Decision on WSI's application for a Major Permit Modification (Valley Fill Project). As drafted, the Provisional Decision would allow WSI to place additional ash fill in two valleys within the limits of the landfill, subject to specific conditions.

Minor Permit Modification for Ash Staging & Transport
On November 1, 2017, MassDEP issued a Final Decision on WSI's application for a Minor Permit Modification (Staging & Transport Project). The Final Decision allowed WSI to temporarily stage ash residue within the limits of the landfill for transport to off-site ash management facilities, subject to specific conditions.
