From the East, South, Southeast, or West

• Take Mass Pike to Auburn/Worcester Exit (I-290 East)
• Proceed on I-290 East to Exit 13 (Kelley Square)

From I-290, Exit 13

• If westbound, take a right at stop sign; if eastbound, take a left at traffic light.
• Proceed through Kelley Square onto Madison St (Rte. 122 North).
• Take a left turn at the Hess gas station.
• MassDEP is 1/2 mile up the street on the right at the intersection of Madison and Main Streets.
• NOTE: Entrance is on Madison Street even though address is 627 Main Street.

Parking

There are several parking options, including metered parking near the DEP office. Other possible parking spots include:

Federal Plaza Parking Garage
From Kelley Square, proceed up Madison St./122N and take a right turn onto Southbridge St. At the first stop sign, take a left onto Myrtle St. At the traffic light, take a right onto Main St. About 100 ft. on your left is an entrance to the Federal Plaza Parking Garage.

Myrtle St. Municipal Parking Lot
From Kelley Square, proceed up Madison St./122N and take a right turn onto Southbridge St. At the first stop sign, take a right. Turn left on Salem St. for entrance to the Myrtle St. Municipal Parking Lot. Coin operated meters.

Appointments are only established once you receive a confirmation from the Service Center. If the Service Center does not respond to your inquiry within a reasonable time, please re-submit your request.

Seats are limited and customers are served on a first come - first served basis.

Upon arrival, please read and fill out the form supplied to you by the Service Center and return it to the File Manager on duty before leaving.

During review, DO NOT unclip, remove staples, or take binders or folders apart.

Photo copies and faxes are available for 20 cents per 8" x 11" page. Fees vary for other size pages.

Only checks will be accepted and should be made payable to Commonwealth of Massachusetts. There is a $20 fee for returned checks.

Arrangements can be made to have files sent out to a copy service, which is recommended for any large documents. When there are several people requesting copies, DEP staff have priority for using DEP copy machines.

If you are unable to keep your appointed time, you must call and cancel your appointment by 12 noon the previous working day. A fee may be billed to your company for appointments which are not appropriately canceled.

This region, which spans from the Connecticut border to the New Hampshire line, encompasses all of Worcester county and includes some municipalities in western Middlesex and Norfolk counties. In all, there are 77 towns and cities with a total population of nearly 900,000.

Most communities in the Central Region grew up around mills, many of which have since given way to high tech companies and various support industries. The region still hosts a number of metal fabricating and plating firms, plastics manufacturers and remnants of the paper, shoe and furniture industries. A few large farms dot the landscape, but agriculture has slowly been replaced by residential and commercial development.

The major river basins (Blackstone, Nashua, Concord, Merrimack, Chicopee, French and Quinebaug, and Millers) as well as the Wachusett Reservoir and its watershed are among the chief natural features of the Central region.
