Recent Decisions

The Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) Office is an agency of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and is part of the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs (EOEA). EOEA is led by Secretary Ian A. Bowles.

Through the MEPA office, the Secretary conducts environmental impact reviews of certain projects requiring state agency action. Agency actions include granting state permits or licenses, providing state financial assistance, or transferring state land.

Within this site you will find information about the MEPA regulations and review process, and the MEPA office's services. Project proponents and consultants can obtain forms and instructions for filing documents. Members of the public can find out about projects under review and how to submit comments to the Secretary. We also provide access to information on past projects through an on-line database.

The MEPA Office posts The Environmental Monitor online twice each month. The Monitor has information on projects under review, recent decisions of the Secretary, and public notices from environmental agencies. Past issues are available at our on-line archives.
