April Is Crime Victim Rights Month
April is Crime Victim Rights Month. It is a time when we recognize the strides made since the signing of the Massachusetts Victim Bill of Rights in 1983, and honor not only those who serve, but those who have been impacted by crime. It is also a time to reflect on how we can do even better in our quest to assist crime victims and their families.
In the Essex District Attorney’s Office, Cheryl Watson serves as Chief of Victim/Witness Services, and Fay Ciaramitaro serves as Deputy Chief. Together, with 26 dedicated advocates, they serve the citizens of our county. Those services include crisis intervention, support services, court accompaniment, providing information about court cases and the court process, and information and referrals for financial assistance and/or social services.
