Public Auction of Vehicles, Vehicle Equipment, and Miscellaneous Items

Most auctions are held on a Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Public viewing is the day prior from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the day of sale from 8:30 a.m. Auctions are scheduled several times throughout the spring, summer, and fall months. Auctions are not conducted during the winter.
Information is also available on the OSD Auction Hotline at 617-720-3199, as well as the Boston Globe classified section under Auctions on the Sunday and Thursday preceding the day of sale. All ads specify auction location, date, time, and a general offering list.
Overseen and managed by OSD, all public auctions of surplus property are conducted by a professional auctioneer licensed by the Commonwealth's Division of Standards.
- Offerings are sold "as-is, where-is."
- Payment must be made by cash, personal or business check
- Two means of identification are required of which one must be a valid driver's license.
- Full payment must be done at the auction' s conclusion.
Items Available by Sealed Bid
Surplus equipment listed in surplus memoranda that has not been transferred to state departments, municipalities, or non-profit organizations will be offered for sale to the general public through a sealed bid process.
All property will be sold to the highest bidder "as-is, where-is."
High bidder(s) will be notified and required to submit a bank check or money order as payment. Payment must be given to the Contact person at the State agency on the day of removal. Full payment must be made prior to removal of any item(s).
In the event the high bidder does not fulfill these requirements, the next highest bidder will be notified.
