Request Surplus Property Available to Non-Profits

Qualified non-profit organizations are eligible to acquire surplus property from the State of Massachusetts.

Nonprofit Organizations

Certain non-profit charitable organizations in Massachusetts are eligible to purchase surplus property from the Commonwealth after it has been active on the Surplus Property Listing Website for 20 days. If you are a non-profit interested in acquiring Surplus Property, please email the Surplus Property Office and provide the following information:

  • A link to your non-profit’s website or copies of any pamphlets or literature you provide advertising your services.
  • A copy of your non-profit’s 501c3 IRS determination letter.
  • A narrative on agency letterhead explaining the services you provide, who you provide these services to, and where you provide your services.
  • An explanation detailing how any property received from the SSPO would be utilized for your non-profit.
  • Two references from individuals or organizations that have benefitted from the services your non-profit has provided.
  • A list and contact information for your non-profit’s Officers / Board of Directors.
  • Other information as requested by the SSPO.

Please note: The Surplus Property Office holds the authority to assess the eligibility of all non-profits, and its determination is considered final.
