    Unity Place Apartments, Lowell MA
The Coalition for a Better Acre, a key player in the redevelopment of Lowell’s Acre neighborhood, recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Unity Place Apartments in Lowell, MA.  The redeveloped property, which replaces a pair of troubled apartment buildings, is now a 4-story elevator building, incorporating the latest in energy and water-conservation measures, resulting in the production of 23 new units of permanently affordable rental.  The property is located on a quiet residential street with ample on-street parking, close to public transportation and within easy walking distance of the city center and numerous amenities. All of the units will be available to families earning less than 60% of area median income.   The Department of Housing and Community Development, CBA, MHIC, Mass Housing, MHP, and the City of Lowell were all partners in the project.
