Overview of the Career Readiness Initiative.

Career Readiness Initiative

The Career Readiness Initiative is a statewide, multi-agency effort to increase the educational attainment of Massachusetts’s residents, and to provide job seekers with the opportunity to secure fulfilling careers in sustainable industries. There are three elements of the Career Readiness Initiative (CRI): Career Ready 101, the WorkKeys exam and National Career Readiness Certificate, and Job Profiling. Currently, we are in the third phase of the Career Readiness Initiative, and sites are beginning to administer WorkKeys to qualified individuals.

WorkKeys is a high-stakes series of three assessments that measure job readiness skills which employers believe are critical for success. By scoring a at Level 3 in each of the WorkKeys assessments (Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Locating Information), participants earn the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC). The WorkKeys exam and the NCRC are components of the package of tools which we believe will aid in educating and employing the future workforce of Massachusetts.
