Questions and Answers (Q&A)
Who is eligible to receive a professional development stipend?
The first 200 currently active public K-12 teachers in the state of Massachusetts who complete 20 hours of professional development offered by MA CEE and NGPF are eligible to receive a $500 stipend with a program start date of January 5, 2023.
If I complete 40 hours of professional development, will I be eligible for an additional $500 stipend?
We encourage everyone to take as much professional development as desired but because we want to reach as many teachers as possible, we are limiting stipends to one per teacher.
How much time will I have to complete these 20 hours of professional development and earn this $500 stipend?
The grant program is not time-based but rather teacher-based. Funding is available to provide stipends to 200 Massachusetts K-12 teachers who complete 20 professional development hours.
How will the stipends be provided and when?
You will receive a $500 check as a stipend. When a participant completes the 20 hours of professional development, they will be sent a web-form that will initiate the payment process. Payments can take up to 2-3 weeks to process.
How will I know if grant funding is still available?
On a monthly basis, CEE and NGPF will update the number of teachers who have completed any professional development and the number who have hit 20 hours so participants know if funding is still available.
This page will be updated accordingly.
I already invested 20 hours in professional development with CEE and/or NGPF before the start of this program. Will I receive a $500 stipend based on this prior work?
No. The $500 stipend will only be given for hours completed on January 4, 2023 or later.
Are there costs for the professional development workshops?
CEE and NGPF offer all of their professional development at no cost.
How can I sign up for these professional development workshops?
Registration is easy. You can sign up for CEE's trainings here. You can sign up for NGPF's offerings by visiting NGPF's Certification course, On-Demand, and Virtual PD pages to get started.
I finished my 20 credits, what do I need to do?
CEE and NGPF will automatically tally your hours and will notify you that you are a recipient of the grant up to 30 days after you complete the 20 credits.
