Supreme Judicial Court, Office of Education and Public Programs - Workshop Leader Internship

The application period for a Fall 2024 internship opens on April 19, 2024. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.

Supreme Judicial Court Mission Statement:

The mission of the Supreme Judicial Court (SJC) is to promote the rule of law and foster public trust by leading an independent judiciary that assures every person equal access to the fair, timely, and impartial resolution of disputes in courts managed with efficiency and professionalism. The SJC is the highest appellate court in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and is comprised of a Chief Justice and six Associate Justices.

Workshop Leader Internship Description:

The SJC is seeking interns to co-lead interactive workshops about the 1920s Sacco and Vanzetti case for students in grades 5 – 12. The workshops are an extension of the John Adams Courthouse tour program and its exhibit on the Sacco and Vanzetti case. The workshop’s goals are to provide students with a deeper understanding of this pivotal case and to explore its relevance today. Workshops will take place primarily at the John Adams Courthouse in Boston, and occasionally in area schools.

This internship opportunity is available to undergraduate and graduate students majoring in history and/or public history during the fall and spring semesters. The internship offers an invaluable learning opportunity, which will involve working with the SJC’s Director of Education and Public Programs to co-lead dynamic workshops. Interns will receive an informational packet on the Sacco and Vanzetti case and participate in training and evaluation sessions. Students will write a brief reflection paper about the internship experience and discuss their thoughts and ideas during the final evaluation session. The internship is unpaid, although some students may be able to obtain funding through their schools or other funding sources.

The Supreme Judicial Court is an equal-opportunity employer and encourages persons from all backgrounds to apply.
