MCAD Housing Trainings

The MCAD offers public and private anti-discrimination training courses for landlords, real estate professionals, lenders, and members of the public. Courses range from 90 min. refresher courses, to ½-day and full-day trainings. Courses may be held in-person at your location, at an MCAD office, or on Zoom. If the training is virtual all participants are required to be on camera with access to a microphone.

Housing Discrimination 101

(3 hours) This three-hour course covers anti-discrimination laws for all landlords, realtors, lenders, and other housing providers. We will exam scenarios specific to housing and discuss service animals in depth. This course includes fair advertising law.

"Know Your Rights" Training

(90 mins) This course is for community groups and individual across the Commonwealth. Participants will learn the basics of Massachusetts anti-discrimination law in employment, housing, and public accommodations. The MCAD often partners with nonprofit organizations and adult education centers to offer “Know Your Rights” trainings to their clients.

Bystander Intervention

(90 mins) Bystander intervention is a philosophy that encourages all people to accept personal responsibility when they witness an uncomfortable situation at work and intervene to ensure the well-being and/or safety of others. In this training, participants will learn specific tools for responding to uncomfortable situations at work and practice bystander intervention with hypothetical scenarios.

Public Places Discrimination 101

(3 hours) This three-hour course covers anti-discrimination laws for any organization or company that serves the public. We will exam scenarios specific to public accommodations and discuss service animals in depth.
