Bureau of Forestry Pre-Harvest Forest Tours

4:00 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. October Mountain State Forest, County Road, Washington

A tour of the 73 acre planned timber sale along road frontage of northern hardwood and spruce/fir forest types. Meet at the ATV parking area at the intersection of County Road and Finerty Pond Road; 3.6 mile west of Rt. 8 (Main St) on County Road. Participants will then walk the 2 miles of timber sale along County Road as a group. County Road is 5 miles north from the intersection of Rt. 20 and Rt. 8 in the Town of Becket and is 1.9 miles south from the intersection of Rt. 8 and the Washington/Becket town line.

5:00 - 6:30 p.m. October Mountain State Forest, Watson Road, Washington

A tour of the 107 acre planned timber sale in a northern hardwood forest. Participants will also have the opportunity to view a similar prior harvest conducted in 2015. Meet at the junction of Stanley Road and Watson Road in Washington. Access this location from the intersection of MA Rt. 8 and McNerney Road; drive 3.0 miles north on McNerney Road continuing to Washington Mountain Road, turn left on Watson Road, and drive 1.0 miles.
