Overview of Red Cross Blood Drive: Sponsored by the MDDC & Quincy Fire Department
Join the Massachusetts Developmental Disabilities Council and the Quincy Fire Department for a blood drive, hosted by the American Red Cross!
Donating blood is an amazing way to give back to your community and help individuals in need. Plus, each donor is eligible to receive a $20 Amazon gift card by email when donating!
Why donate? Every pint of blood donated can save up to three lives. Patients in emergency situations, those undergoing surgery, and individuals with chronic illnesses rely on blood donations for survival. Many cancer treatments require blood transfusions. Your donation can provide critical support to patients battling this disease. Hospitals must be prepared for emergencies, including accidents and natural disasters. By donating blood, you ensure that there is a ready supply available when it’s needed most. Coming together for a blood drive also strengthens our community bonds and shows solidarity. It’s a way to give back and support each other in times of need!
What are the requirements? If you are donating whole blood, you must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent) at the time of donation to be eligible. You must be in good health and feeling well. You must weigh at least 110 lbs. If you are making a power red donation, male donors must be at least 17 years old, 5 ft. 1 in. tall, and weigh at least 130 lbs. Female donors must be at least 19 years old, 5 ft. 3 in. tall, and weigh at least 150 lbs. Visit the Red Cross's website to learn more about eligibility.
