Overview   of Special Commission to Study the Health and Safety of LGBTQI Prisoners

Pursuant to the provisions of G.L. c. 30A and 940 CMR 29.00 et seq., the Special Commission to Study the Health and Safety of LGBTQI Prisoners will meet on Friday May 31, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Massachusetts State House, Room 109, Boston, MA 02133.

Agenda

  1. Review and Approve Minutes of Previous Meeting on March 11, 2019.
  2. Discussion of concerns raised by David Mills in his Memorandum previously disseminated to Commission members. Topics to include OML, site visits, interviews, data, conflicts, etc…
  3. Presentation by Dr. Steven Descoteaux, State-wide Medical Director for Wellpath.
  4. Presentation by Mitzi Peterson, Director of Behavioral Health for DOC.Discussion of DOC responses to inmate issues compiled by Jen Gaffney, previously disseminated to Commission members.
  5. Discussion of issues raised in inmate letters to the Commission, previously disseminated to Commission members.
  6. Discussion of future agenda items, including: Motions submitted by Michael Cox and Draft Recommendations submitted by Jen Levi, both previously disseminated to Commission members.
  7. Discussion and scheduling of future meeting dates (time and location)
  8. Member Comments (Please note this is an opportunity for comment only, not group discussion regarding items not on the agenda.)

  10. Executive Session
    1. The Special Commission may convene an executive session pursuant to M.G.L. c. 30A, § 21(a)(7) (“to comply with, or act under the authority of, any general or special law”) in order to comply with M.G.L. c. 66A (FIPA) and M.G.L. c. 6, § 172 (CORI).
