Please use the form below to request a file review or public records for facilities or sites located in the central region.

Review environmental data & files online

File Review & Public Records Requests Overview

There are a couple of ways to request Public Records from MassDEP's Central Regional Office. Appointments for in-person file reviews are available by appointment, Monday through Friday (except state holidays) by:

  • Submitting a request using the form below; OR
  • Calling 508-792‐7650

Regional staff will make every effort to provide requested files electronically, when possible.  The Records Response Coordinator will contact you with further information about your request.

File Review & Public Records Request Procedures

  • You may request up to 3 files per request form. The request should be organized and complete, with an address and reasonable description, to ensure that the correct files are provided.
  • A fee may be assessed if the time spent searching for, compiling, segregating, redacting, and reproducing a requested record exceeds four hours of staff time. You will be notified of any fees associated with your request prior to the production of the requested records.
  • Appointments for in-person file reviews are only established once you receive confirmation from the Records Response Coordinator.
  • During in-person file review, please DO NOT unclip, remove staples, or take binders or folders apart.
  • During in-person file reviews, photocopies are available at the following cost:
    • $0.05 for single or double-sided black-and-white copies or printouts (950 C.M.R. 32.07(2)(e))
    • $1 per page for documents copied from books or generated electronically (G.L. c. 262, § 38)
  • Only checks will be accepted for any associated costs and should be made payable to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. There will be a fee for returned checks.
  • Arrangements can be made to have files sent out to a copy service, which is recommended for any large volume and bound records.
