The fiscal year 2013 (FY13) budget is an estimate of income and spending for the period of July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013. This budget is also known as the General Appropriations Act (GAA) or "Chapter 139 of the Acts of 2012."

The Fiscal Year 2013 (FY13) budget recommendation is a balanced and fiscally responsible plan that reflects the Governor's unprecedented commitment to education, health care, creating jobs and other key priorities that support long-term job growth and prosperity and will continue to accelerate the Commonwealth's economic recovery.

How to view

The online budget application allows you to view a summary of dollars allocated by government area, historical budget information, and a list of vetoes.  You are also able to download budget information in spreadsheet format.

Key dates in the FY13 budget process:

  • January 25, 2012 - The Governor files his proposal for Fiscal Year 2013 (FY13). The bill, known as House 2, goes to the House of Representatives for review.  
  • April 26, 2012 - The House of Representatives approves a final, amended version of the bill which is sent to the Senate for consideration
  • May 25, 2012 - The Senate approves a final, amended version of the bill which is sent to a Conference Committee for review
  • June 27, 2012 - The Conference Committee reports a final compromise bill to the House and Senate for a final vote of acceptance in each branch
  • July 8, 2012 - The Governor issues his reductions and denials (vetoes) of the Conference Committee's bill.  The FY13 Budget is signed.
  • July 8, 2012 - The Governor requests a supplemental budget
  • December 4, 2012 - Secretary of Administration and Finance notifies the Governor and house and senate committees on ways and means that there is a revenue shortfall
  • December 4, 2012 - Governor invokes 9C authority
