The Fiscal Year 2013 (FY13) budget recommendation is a balanced and fiscally responsible plan that reflects the Governor's unprecedented commitment to education, health care, creating jobs and other key priorities that support long-term job growth and prosperity and will continue to accelerate the Commonwealth's economic recovery.

Key dates in the FY13 budget process:
- January 25, 2012 - The Governor files his proposal for Fiscal Year 2013 (FY13). The bill, known as House 2, goes to the House of Representatives for review.
- April 26, 2012 - The House of Representatives approves a final, amended version of the bill which is sent to the Senate for consideration
- May 25, 2012 - The Senate approves a final, amended version of the bill which is sent to a Conference Committee for review
- June 27, 2012 - The Conference Committee reports a final compromise bill to the House and Senate for a final vote of acceptance in each branch
- July 8, 2012 - The Governor issues his reductions and denials (vetoes) of the Conference Committee's bill. The FY13 Budget is signed.
- July 8, 2012 - The Governor requests a supplemental budget
- December 4, 2012 - Secretary of Administration and Finance notifies the Governor and house and senate committees on ways and means that there is a revenue shortfall
- December 4, 2012 - Governor invokes 9C authority
