SEEKING CANDIDATES FOR FIFTH MEMBER POSITION

The Shrewsbury Contributory Retirement Board is seeking letters of interest and resumes for the position of Fifth Member for a term expiring April 25, 2025. The appointment will be for a three year term, commencing on April 26, 2025 and concluding April 25, 2028.
The position is unpaid and requires that a board member shall discharge all of his/her duties solely in the interest of members and their beneficiaries, and
- For the exclusive purpose of:
- Providing benefits to members and their beneficiaries; and
- Defraying reasonable expenses of administering the system.
- With the care, skill, prudence and diligence under the circumstances then prevailing that a prudent person acting in a like capacity and familiar with such matters would use in the conduct of an enterprise of like character and with like aims.
- By diversifying the investments of the system so as to minimize the risk of large losses, unless under the circumstances it is clearly prudent not to do so.
- In accordance with the Massachusetts General Laws, the rules and regulations promulgated by the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission (PERAC), and rules and regulations adopted by the board and approved by PERAC.
- Attend a monthly board meeting and additional meetings as necessary
- Complete and submit an annual Financial Statement to PERAC with the first statement being due within 30 days after appointment
- Attend various conferences and training sessions to earn the required PERAC educational credits of 18 credits per three year term.

The position is open to qualified persons except those who are an employee, retiree or official of the Town of Shrewsbury or the Shrewsbury Contributory Retirement System.
