Jim began his career at MassDOT in 2017, after graduating from Boston University and consulting exclusively in the private sector throughout the entirety of his career. In 2017, Jim sought to pursue a job outside of the private sector that offered growth opportunities and job security, which he found in his role as Supervisor of Hazardous Materials Review at MassDOT. The Hazardous Materials Review Group focuses on reviewing projects in development for potential hazardous materials concerns.
Jim has been a part of various projects, but one of his favorites involves working on a solution to a soil release condition at 185 Kneeland Street (MassDOT’s District 6 Office location). He is most knowledgeable in partnering with environmental consultants on remediation of MassDOT release sites, which has made this project a welcome challenge. Jim emphasizes that safety is “of the utmost importance” when out on a jobsite, which is one reason the Hazmat group continues to participate in their annual OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) refresher training. When Jim is not in the field, he enjoys running and kayaking. He is a Disney, Star Wars, and Harry Potter fan, and relishes the time he spends with his family.
