Position: Associate Executive Director

Job Summary: The Associate Executive Director reports directly to and works with the Executive Director of the Quincy Retirement System. This position requires the ability to manage and work with the office staff. Extensive knowledge of M.G.L Ch.32, PTG and PROSPER is a must. The role requires an individual who has operational experience working with custodial banks, investment managers and PERAC. We seek a proven problem solver who is highly energetic and who has a high attention to detail.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Enter cash receipts & disbursements in the accounting system for review by the Board. Balance posted deductions to cash receipts.
  • Strong understanding of PERAC’s accounting regulations and requirements regarding the investment portfolio of the Retirement System.
  • 1099-R annual production.
  • Submit the monthly cash books to PERAC.
  • Experience with the production of the system’s annual statement.
  • Manage the system’s annual appropriation with various stakeholders with the assistance of the Executive Director.
  • Ability to run monthly retiree payroll.
  • Research payroll records to calculate buyback requests.
  • Manage interdepartmental cross training across all functions.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the Executive Director.
  • Ability to manage and participate in weekly staff meetings regarding the operations of the system.
  • Ability to attend various external system related conferences and educational seminars.

Education and Experience:

The ideal candidate should have at least 7 years working inside a Massachusetts pension system with notable job progression. A bachelor’s degree in accounting of finance is desired. MBA or other advanced coursework is a plus. A working knowledge  of MUNIS, PTG and an ability to create templates/documents in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
