Massachusetts Alcohol and Substance Abuse Center - Section 35 Renovation

This project will transform the existing Department of Corrections Campus Massachusetts Alcohol and Substance Abuse Center in Plymouth into a more therapeutic, healthcare-oriented environment including the reduction in patient capacity, improved on-unit program spaces, and building system and infrastructure upgrades. The program provides Secure Addiction Treatment for Men.

Project Features

  • Renovation and reorganization of space across the three dorm buildings to provide on-unit support spaces and a therapeutic and healing environment through upgraded finishes, new windows and furniture.
  • Site related alterations to provide a universally accessible site including the incorporation of a unifying ramp between upper and lower campuses, accessible walkways and building entries

Notable sustainable design features:

  • New low flow plumbing fixtures
  • Energy efficient lighting fixtures and window units
  • Replacing the existing fossil fuel burning equipment with a biofuel option
  • Upgrade of the electrical and mechanical systems to current Commonwealth of Massachusetts energy standards
