Massachusetts 250 Grants

The Executive Office of Economic Development (EOED) through the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism (MOTT) is committed to supporting programming around the Semiquincentennial of the American Revolution in Massachusetts in 2025 and 2026. The FY26 Massachusetts 250 (MA250) Grant Program is a competitive grant program that will award funds to support programming and marketing that tell the stories of the American Revolution in Massachusetts and will increase tourism and travel to and within Massachusetts.

Destination Development Capitol Grants

The Executive Office of Economic Development (EOED) through the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism (MOTT) is committed to helping communities contribute to the long-term strength and sustainability of the Commonwealth. The FY25 Destination Development Capital (DDC) Grant Program is a competitive grant program that will award funds to improve facilities and destinations visited by in state and out-of-state travelers, with the goals of increasing visitation, enticing repeat visitation, and increasing the direct and indirect economic impacts of the tourism industry in all regions of the commonwealth.

Eligible projects will enhance tourism resources and infrastructure and will aid in destination resiliency. Applications will be accepted for projects that include plans to expand, construct, restore or renovate Massachusetts tourism destinations and attractions. Applicants must demonstrate how the tourism capital project will work to promote the tourism goals of the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism and the corresponding Regional Tourism Council. The DDC grant is focused on capital improvements with a direct relationship to tourism, and other physical/structural items with a greater than five-year lifespan. In accordance with the ResilientMass Plan, projects that include elements intended to increase the climate resilience of a tourism destination or attraction will receive consideration in the review process. Projects with a presence in a Designated Cultural District, locations within rural communities, and nexus with commemorations of the 250th anniversary of American Independence may receive priority consideration.

Regional Tourism Council Grants

Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 23A, Sections 13T & 14, The Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism (MOTT) has established a program for financial assistance to public or nonprofit agencies which promote or provide services for tourism, convention, travel, and recreation in the Commonwealth.

The FY25 Regional Tourism Council (RTC) Grant Program projected funding level is funded through the Tourism Trust Fund and FY24 Gaming Revenue. The projected funding level is subject to change based on final FY24 Gaming Revenue collections. Disbursements will be determined based on a five-factor funding formula and review of an FY25 Marketing Plan.

Eligible agencies identify as Regional Tourism Councils, (RTC), representing the following designated service areas: Greater Boston, North of Boston, Greater Merrimack Valley, Bristol County, Plymouth County, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket Island, MetroWest, Johnny Appleseed Trail, Central Massachusetts, Greater Springfield, Hampshire County, Franklin County, The Berkshires, and Mohawk Trail and to any other public or nonprofit agency which fulfills the following requirements:

  • In operation for two consecutive years prior to applying for this grant.
  • Spends $15,000 in its fiscal year on tourism or a public or nonprofit agency.
  • Can meet the 1:1 matching funds requirement for the FY25 Regional Tourism Council Grants.
  • Has a total budget larger than the average of Massachusetts tourist promotion agencies as estimated by the executive director of MOTT and which spends 25% percent of said budget on tourism.
