The Supreme Judicial Court solicits public comment on a proposal from the Board of Bar Overseers to change its name from the Board of Bar Overseers to the Board of Bar Oversight. The new title would allow for continued use of the abbreviation BBO. The Board of Bar Overseers’ explanation for the proposed retitling is linked at the report below. A new title would require revisions to Rule 4:01 which creates the Board of Bar Overseers as well as to various court rules that refer to the Board of Bar Overseers. The proposed revisions to SJC Rule 4:01 appear below.
