Notice Inviting Comment on Proposed Amendments to the Rules of the Board of Bar Overseers

Comments should be submitted no later than May 10, 2024.

The Supreme Judicial Court Rules Committee solicits comments on a proposal from the Board of Bar Overseers (Board) to amend SJC Rule 4:01 and Rules 2.12, 3.18, 4.23, 4.24, 5.2, 3.8, 3.9 and 3.10 of the Rules of the Board of Bar Overseers. The amendment to SJC Rule 4:01 would amend Section 21 to allow for service of documents by email in addition to hand delivery, regular mail or certified mail. The proposed changes to the Rules of the Board are described in the Report from the Board dated December 12, 2023 and found at the link below. The proposed amendments to the Board rules address challenges to admonitions, motions, recusal of a Board member, pro hac vice practice before the Board, remote Board meetings, and service of documents by email.

Comments should be directed to christine.burak@jud.state.ma.us no later than May 10, 2024. Comments received will be made available to the public.
