West Newton Armory

Project Features

On September 7, 2021, DCAMM conveyed the former West Newton Armory built in 1910 located at 1135-1137 Washington Street in Newton to the City of Newton for $1.00 for 100% affordable housing purposes pursuant to Chapter 157 of the Acts of 2020. The former West Newton Armory consists of 0.76+/- acres of land together with 30,122+/- gross square feet of armory building space located thereon that was surplused by the Massachusetts Military Division. The City estimates that 45 units of affordable housing could be built at the former armory property.
