For Calendar Year 2025:
- The Civil Service Commission received 283 new appeals and closed out 227.
- The open case inventory of appeals as of December 31, 2025 is 121.
- No appeals have been pending before the Commission for more than 12 months as of December 31, 2025.
- The average age of a pending appeal is 14 weeks as of December 31, 2025.

Civil Service Commission
The Civil Service Commission is an independent, neutral appellate tribunal and investigative entity. We hear and decide appeals filed by certain state and municipal employees and candidates for positions covered by the civil service law, including discipline, layoff, bypass, examination and classification appeals, in addition to conducting investigations related to alleged violations of the civil service law.
