The Civil Service Commission publishes statistics quarterly regarding the number and type of appeals received and pending; cycle time; decision outcomes; and judicial affirmation rates.
For the quarter-ending March 31, 2025:
▪ The Commission received 81 new appeals and closed 45 appeals.
▪ The open case inventory of appeals as of March 31, 2025 is 101.
▪ 3 appeals have been pending before the Commission for more than 12 months as of March 31, 2025.
▪ The average age of a pending appeal is 15 weeks as of March 31, 2025.

Civil Service Commission
The Civil Service Commission is an independent, neutral appellate tribunal and investigative entity. We hear and decide appeals filed by certain state and municipal employees and candidates for positions covered by the civil service law, including discipline, layoff, bypass, examination and classification appeals, in addition to conducting investigations related to alleged violations of the civil service law.
