An Essex County grand jury indicted a former director of the METCO program in Marblehead on larceny charges for stealing money intended to benefit students. The indictment resulted from a joint investigation by the Massachusetts Office of the Inspector General and the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.

The former METCO director, Francois Fils-Aime, 47, of Randolph, is accused of using a bank account referred to as The Marblehead METCO Sunshine Fund for his personal expenses, including restaurant meals.  The account was funded by METCO parents’ yearly dues and donations from individuals and organizations.

Mr. Fils-Aime is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
