Wakefield — In its scheduled meeting on June 25, 2020, the Board approved a permanent policy on telemedicine, clarifying that a face-to-face encounter between the physician and the patient is not required prior to health care delivery via telemedicine.

The policy also specifies that the standard of care applicable to the physician is the same whether the patient is seen in-person or through telemedicine.

On March 17, 2020, the Board had issued an Interim Policy on Telemedicine.  This action makes the interim policy permanent.

The policy may be downloaded here, and all policies are available in the Related items on this page.
