Greenfield, MA — The Office of the Inspector General launched an investigation in 2022, spurred by a complaint made to the OIG's Fraud Hotline, which found that former Police Chief Daniel J. Galvis improperly took possession of equipment owned by the Leyden Police Department and sold some of those items without returning proceeds back to the Town.

Galvis admitted to sufficient facts in Greenfield District Court and was placed on probation and ordered to pay $10,950 in restitution. The Northwest District Attorney's Office prosecuted the case.
