Boston — A Suffolk County grand jury indicted a former non-profit manager for allegedly embezzling more than $45,000 from Heading Home, Inc., a Charlestown-based organization providing assistance to homeless individuals and families.

Between March 2015 and November 2016, Donna Scott, 52, now of Vallejo, CA, allegedly stole more than $45,000 in funds that were intended to provide transitional and permanent housing and support services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. At the time, Scott was a manager at Heading Home, Inc., which is partially funded by grants from the state’s Department of Housing and Community Development. She faces one count of larceny.

The charges resulted from a joint investigation by the Massachusetts Office of the Inspector General and the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. A complaint to the Inspector General’s Fight Fraud hotline triggered this investigation.

Ms. Scott is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
