Boston, MA (June 15, 2023) The Massachusetts Developmental Disabilities Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Patricia Jackson as Administrative Services Specialist. Before joining the MDDC, Patricia worked at the Department of Children and Families in Brockton. She collaborated with social workers, diligently tracking personal need accounts for consumers, and ensuring smooth scheduling of ongoing family visits, including for children with disabilities.
“Her personal experience and advocacy for learning accommodations makes her a great asset to our Council” said Daniel Shannon, MDDC Executive Director. “Navigating the world of learning accommodations for family members, Patricia has insight into the barriers that individuals with developmental disabilities encounter in higher education and the workforce.”
Patricia's involvement in overseeing SSI accounts and Title II payments demonstrates her commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities. She also did an internship at the Social Security Administration in high school which gave her knowledge for records management systems. She also contributed to the management of data entry, record keeping, and played an integral role in procuring donations for children in custody, foster children, and the holiday gift drive. Her experience in these areas will undoubtedly enhance our Council's efforts in advocating for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Patricia holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, demonstrating her commitment to education and professional growth. She also earned an Associate's Degree in Biology from Massasoit Community College, reflecting her broad knowledge base and her desire to continue her journey in life-long learning. Patricia believes that each day presents the precious gift of learning something new.
