This year the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development awarded millions of dollars for workers, jobseekers, and businesses to succeed and be competitive in Massachusetts. Supported Youth Employment

In July, we announced new funding for the 2023 – 2024 YouthWorks program, which went towards hiring thousands of youths and young adults in summer and year-round employment.

During Massachusetts STEM Week, we educated Boston Public School students about the cool innovation happening in Massachusetts within the construction sector.

Provided Second Chance Opportunities

In July, we awarded 14 organizations with re-entry workforce training grants to help train hundreds of formerly incarcerated individuals returning to the workforce in occupations including clean energy, hospitality, and manufacturing.

Expanded Career Technical Training

In October, we expanded career technical training capacity in high-demand occupations within the trades, construction, and manufacturing sectors by awarding 18 organizations with Career Technical Initiative (CTI) grants across Massachusetts.

Increased Workforce Competitiveness

In July and December, we announced latest funding in Senator Kenneth J. Donnelly Workforce Success Grants to increase access to well-paying jobs for residents facing employment barriers and improve the competitive stature of Massachusetts businesses by enhancing worker skills and productivity.

Advocated for Registered Apprenticeship

With nearly $4 million invested in Registered Apprenticeship in fiscal year 2024, the Healey-Driscoll Administration is leveraging Registered Apprenticeship Programs to help jobseekers succeed in new careers and help employers build a loyal, skilled workforce.
