The Massachusetts Developmental Disabilities Council (MDDC) is conducting a survey on Experiences with Self-Direction in Massachusetts.

People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) can receive services and supports from the Massachusetts’ Department of Developmental Services (DDS). These services can be provided through traditional or self-directed models.

  • Most people receive services through a traditional model, which means a provider agency is responsible for their budget, support staff, and program choices.
  • Some people receive services through a self-directed model, which is called Self-Direction. Self-Direction lets individuals and their families have more control and responsibility for their services.
  • You can learn more about these service models on the DDS website here.

We want to learn about the experiences of people and their families who use Self-Direction in Massachusetts.

This survey will be used to help us understand:

  • Why participants use Self-Direction.
  • What is working well.
  • Areas more help/support may be needed.
  • Suggestions to make the program work better.
  • Basic budget information.

Eligibility: Massachusetts residents with IDD who use Self-Direction or their family members.

Purpose: The information collected will be used to help educate and inform leaders in our state about how Self-Direction is working well and how it can be improved.

Confidentiality: We will not use your name or identifying information when we share the survey results.

Take the survey before Tuesday, November 10th here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/G6D986P
