Press Statement  Statement of Attorney General Maura Healey on Appointment of a Special Prosecutor in Russia Investigation

BOSTON — Attorney General Maura Healey today released the following statement:

"Every day since President Trump fired the director of the FBI has only underscored the urgent need for a thorough, independent investigation into Russia's interference in the presidential election and any collusion with the Trump campaign. This appointment is a critical first step in restoring public trust, but it is vital that this special counsel be given full autonomy and all legal and financial resources to uncover the truth for the American people."

AG Healey previously led a coalition  of 20 attorneys general in calling for the immediate appointment of an independent special counsel to continue the investigation of Russian interference in the presidential election.
