Lawrence — Three individuals have been arrested and arraigned in connection with trafficking more than 100 grams of heroin in Lawrence, Attorney General Maura Healey announced today.

On Monday, State Police assigned to the AG’s Office arrested Luis Baez, age 24, Luis Rodriguez, 26, and Jesenia Henriquez, age 28, all of Lawrence, in a joint operation with the State Police Transportation Drug Unit, the Lawrence Police Department’s Street Narcotic Unit, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).

The three defendants were arraigned Tuesday morning in Lawrence District Court on one count each of Trafficking More than 100 grams of Heroin. Rodriguez was also charged with one count of violating a restraining order. All three defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. Rodriguez was held on $10,000 cash bail and ordered that he abide by the restraining order. Baez was held on $20,000 cash bail and Henriquez was released on her own personal recognizance. Baez, Rodriguez and Henriquez are due back in Lawrence District Court on Oct. 4 for a probable cause hearing.

In July 2017, authorities began an investigation into an alleged drug trafficking operation they believed was distributing heroin in Lawrence. Authorities allege that Baez, Rodriguez and Henriquez participated in the sale of over 100 grams of heroin.

This investigation is ongoing. These charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Gina Kwon, of AG Healey’s Enterprise and Major Crimes Division, with assistance from State Police assigned to the AG’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police Transportation Drug Unit (TDU), the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the Lawrence Police Department.
