Effective July 1, 2024, UniCare is changing its name to Wellpoint to reflect their mission of supporting GIC members' whole health.
While their name is changing, the doctors, hospitals, and most of all, their commitment to the
Massachusetts Group Insurance Commission (GIC) will remain the same. For decades, UniCare has exclusively served the GIC, supporting the health needs of state and municipal employees, retirees, and their families.
Note: After evaluating your health plan options for the upcoming plan year, July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025, if you do not want to select a different health plan during Annual Enrollment no further action is needed to remain in your current health plan.
