Boston, MAAt its February 10, 2022 Board meeting, the Board of Registration of Cosmetology and Barbering (“Board”) voted to rescind its Policy on the Expiration of Incomplete Education, eliminating any Board rules regarding when incomplete education hours expire. At its March 10, 2022 meeting, the Board voted to allow transfer hours to be handled directly by schools, without Board involvement, and to discontinue use of the Transfer Hours Form.

Going forward, schools should no longer use the Transfer Hours Form to transfer hours between schools, and should no longer send transfer hour requests to the Board. Schools may communicate directly with other schools on transferring student hours, and may set their own internal policies and requirements for accepting any hours. Acceptance of any earned hours or portion of earned hours will be at the full discretion of a student’s new school.
